Austin, Texas - The Rice women's track and field team medaled in three of six relay events at the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Myers Stadium.
"This was one of our most successful Texas Relays," commented Rice head coach Jim Bevan. "It was great to see three relays teams compete and place in the top three in three of six relay events. And, Becky Wade and Nicole Mericle just ran great races under windy conditions to finish first and second in the steeplechase."
The Rice foursome of Lennie Waite, Sophie Peeters, Vicki Walker, and Keltie John placed third in the 4x800m relay. The squad posted a time of 9:03.56. LSU was first at 8:46.23, while Texas Tech followed with a time of 8:52.46.
Becky Wade won the 3000m steeplechase and Nicole Mericle was a close second. Wade posted a winning NCAA qualifying time of 10:23.07, while Mericle also posted a NCAA qualifying time of 10:29.19. Michaela Reynolds also placed sixth (11:31.07).
In the 1500m, senior Callie Wells ran a provisional qualifying time of 4:27.67 in finishing third.
