Becky Wade won the 3000m steeplechase and Nicole Mericle was a close second at the at the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. Wade posted a winning NCAA qualifying time of 10:23.07, while Mericle also posted a qualifying time of 10:29.19. Michaela Reynolds also placed sixth (11:31.07).
In the women's section b pole vault, Ari Ince bested the competition with a winning NCAA qualifying mark of 3.85m/12-7.50. With the win, Ince now will compete in the top flight section a on Saturday.
The Rice foursome of Lennie Waite, Sophie Peeters, Vicki Walker, and Keltie John placed third in the 4x800m relay. The squad posted a time of 9:03.56. LSU was first at 8:46.23, while Texas Tech followed with a time of 8:52.46.
Cincinatis, running in the 100m hurdles prelim, posted a personal-best time of 14.05. Reece posted a season-fast time of 11.73 in the 100m (17th in a field of 81). Her previous fast time was 11.97 at the TSU Relays.
Action concludes on Saturday.
