Austin - Rice track and field athlete Sharae Robinson placed fourth in the discus at the prestigious 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays held at Mike A. Myers on Saturday.
Robinson, a junior from Corpus Christi, threw a season-best 48.20m/158-2. Robinson's previous season-high was 47.90m/157-2 at last week's Victor Lopez Classic. Her all-time best mark is 48.66m/159-8.
"Overall a short but sweet Texas Relays today," stated Owl head coach Jim Bevan. "Sharae has a big one in her, she just had a poor release on a great throw so I know it is there."
Also on Saturday, Robinson's throw teammate, freshman Claire Uke finished 10th in a tough shot put field with a mark of 14.90m/48-10.75. On the track, the Owls' distance medley relay quartet of Halsey Fowler, Candace Springer, Lilian Nwora, and Sarah Mason ran 15th with a time of 12:28.22.
Long distance runner Becky Wade ran a short race at the Texas Relays, the 1500m run. Wade was sixth overall, but was the third collegian with a time of 4:26.33.
"Becky picked people off the second half of the race and finished strong in a very short race for a 10k All American," commented Bevan.
