AUSTIN, Texas- Marie Thompson ran a 36:16.87 in her first 10K in two years, and Sharae Robinson moved up to 4th on Rice's all-time discus list with a throw of 50.38 m at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

"I am proud of Marie, making it back from injury to race well [on Thursday]," said Rice head coach Jim Bevan. "Marie has really overcome many obstacles in her career."

"Sharae had a fantastic throw in the discus, which hopefully will qualify her for the NCAA meet," added Bevan.

On Thursday, The Owls finished 7th in the 4x800 m relay, with Keltie John, Imani Mark, Lilian Nwora and Heather Olson putting together a 9:04.44 time.

Chioma Nwankwo posted a personal-best 1:06.85 in the 400 m hurdles.

On Friday, the Owls' distance medley relay finished seventh with a time of 11:51.85. Halsey Fowler, Leslie Schilsky, Keltie John and Heather Olson finished ahead of all other non-power conference schools in the strong field, and beat schools such as Temple and Kansas.

McKenzie Johnson finished 9th in the pole vault, competing against many of the best vaulters in the country, clearing a height of 4.06 m to set a personal best. She had three attempts at a school-record clearance of 4.21 m, but just couldn't quite get over the bar.

 

 

Robinson and Claire Uke had good performances in the discus on Saturday, with Robinson finishing second in the "B" group and Uke coming in fifth, with a throw of 47.45 m.
