BATON ROUGE, LA - The Rice Owls women's track and field squad sent a handful of athletes to Friday's LSU Twilight meet in preparation for the C-USA Indoor Championships next week.
Junior Belle MacFarlane placed second overall, first collegiately, in the high jump with a season-best mark of 1.69m (5-06.50) while sophomore Daisy Ding also placed second overall, first collegiately, in the triple jump with a distance of 12.42m (40-09.00). MacFarlane, who won the high jump at the C-USA Indoor Championships last season, was competing in just her second meet of the season after coming back from injury. Ding was just shy of tying her season-best mark of 12.43m
Senior sprinter Tyneisha McCoy and junior Imani Mark each competed in the 400m dash, finishing first (57.70) and second (58.00), respectively amongst collegiate competitors.
"We are getting a few more athletes back," Rice women's track and field head coach Jim Bevan said. "We needed another race and some competition before next week. I thought Belle was much-better this week and Ty and Imani needed to compete. Daisy is doing better and better, this was the best series she's had. Now it's on to Birmingham!"
