COLLEGE STATION, Texas – In their final meet before the Conference USA Indoor Championships in two weeks, the Rice Owls women’s track and field team placed sixth at the Texas A&M Invitational Saturday afternoon with five, top-five finishes.
Freshman distance runner Cali Roper won her first indoor event of her collegiate career, placing first in the 5,000m in a time of 17:30.81. The freshman also joined Ellen Diemert, Leslie Schilsky and Allie Schaich to win the distance medley relay in a time of 12:20.85.
Claire Uke won her third shot put event of the season with a toss of 53’5” (16.28m) while sophomore McKenzie Johnson placed second in the pole vault (13’2.25”).
Freshman Daisy Dukes set a personal record with a 12.23m in the triple jump to place fifth.
Rice will now have off until Feb.28-March 1 when they compete in the C-USA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.
