The Rice Owls women's track and field team competed Saturday at the Texas A&M Challenge at Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium in College Station, Texas. The Challenge featuared scored meet between three conferences - Big 12, SEC and Conference USA. Teams representing the Big 12 were Texas A&M, Texas and Texas Tech. The SEC was represented by Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee. Competing for Conference USA were Houston, Rice and UTEP.
In the mile, Britany Williams scored five points with a fourth place finish with a time of 4:47.91. Keltie John, placed eighth (one point) with a time of 4:56.56. Sophie Peeters placed sixth in the 800m with a season-best mark of 2:12.59.
Kim Stanford placed eighth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.79. In the 200m, Shakera Reece, with a time of 24.03, placed sixth.
Rice's distance medley relay team of Halsey Fowler, Sarah Agara, Heather Olson, and Britany Williams placed fourth in a time of 11:55.70. The 4x400m relay squad of Vicki Walker, Sarah Lyons, Lillian Nwora, and Brittany Washington finished eighth with a time of 3:48.07.
Shannon Moran was fifth in the long jump at 5.72m/18-9.25 and Ariana Ince placed seventh in the pole vault (3.69m/12-1.25). Agara placed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 11.58m/38-0.
