The Rice Owls women's track and field team turned in some performances at the UH All-Comers meet held at Yeoman Fieldhouse.
"We made a lot of progress at this meet and Kiri Kendall and Ariana Ince looked awesome with outstanding performances," said Rice head coach Jim Bevan. "I am certainly delighted with Tina Robinson's record in the weight throw and Becky provisionally qualifying in the mile is impressive."
Tina Robinson set a new Rice indoor record in the weight throw with a mark of 16.80m/55-1.25 breaking her sister, Krystal's, record of 15.73m/51-7.5 set in 2005. Brittany Brown was fourth (14.75m/48-4.75), Katie Dollinger fifth (14.68m/48-2.0), and Sharae Robinson was sixth (14.17m/46-6.0).
Brown was fifth in the shot put (12.76m/41-105), while Dollinger was seventh (12.31m/40-4.75) and Tina Robinson was eighth (12.25m/40-2.25).
Rice went 1-2-3-4-5 in the women's mile as Becky Wade became a provisional qualifier with a winning adjusted time of 4:46. Placing second was Nicole Mericle (4:55.83), third was Halsey Fowler (4:56.23), Marie Thompson was fourth (5:02.02), and Britany Williams placed fifth (5:02.03).
The Owls also dominated the 800m event placing 1-2-4-5. Nicole Mericle was first at 2:14.38, while Sophie Peeters placed second (2:14.74). Placing fourth was Heather Olson (2:18.25) and fifth belonged to Addie Quinn at 2:19.14.
In the 400m, Brittany Washington led Rice with a sixth-place finish (58.35).
Kiri Kendall placed fourth in the high jump (1.65m/5-5) and Ariana Ince was first in the pole vault with a mark of 3.80m/12-5.5, while Cleona Oliver placed eighth at 3.35m/10-11.75. Shannon Moran was fifth in the long jump at 5.65m/18-6.5.
Kendall also placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 12.13m/39-9.75, while Sarah Agara was fourth (11.85m/38-10.5).
