HOUSTON, Texas - The Rice Owls women's track and field team opened up competition at their second indoor meet of the season Friday, sending a handful of athletes to the Howie Ryan Invitational.
Sophomore McKenzie Johnson had the highest finish for the Owls, placing second in the pole vault with a height of 12-08.25. Junior Simone Martin placed 26th with a qualifying time of 7.72 in the 60m dash to lead all Owls sprinters. Freshman Eboni Sutherland competed in both the 60m dash and 200m dash, finishing 43rd and 24th, respectively.
Rice continues competition during day two of the Howie Ryan Invitational. The meet kicks off at 9 a.m. with the women's shot put.
