Houston - Senior Becky Wade won the 3000m event Saturday afternoon at the Houston Indoor Invitational in Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse.
Wade clocked in with a time of 9:29.33 in finishing first. Her teammate, Allison Pye placed fourth and was the second overall collegian with a time of 9:36.37. Farrah Madanay had a lifetime best of 10:16.48 in the 3000m.
Those times are number four and number seven all time at Rice. Both ladies ran negative splits for the race, with Wade actually running a sub-five minute mile over her last mile.
In the 800m, Sophie Peeters placed third with the fastest collegiate time (2:13.88), while Kylie Cullinan placed fifth and was the third collegian overall with a time of 2:14.72. Keltie John was seventh (2:17.36). Owl alum and All-America Lennie Waite won the event with a time of 2:12.52.
Said Bevan on Uke's performance, "Claire Uke had a big improvement in the shot put, which is the best indoor throw by a freshman in 14 years at Rice.
"Overall, we have made a lot of progress in the past two weeks, but we still have a couple of ladies dinged up and have a few at less than 100 percent, but we have made steps forward."
