Rice Women's Track & Field Team Wins the Leonard Hilton Memorial

The Rice Owls women's track and field team, in its first indoor competition of the season won the Leonard Hilton Memorial hosted by the University of Houston with 127 points ahead of Houston who finished with 99 points and Texas who finished third with 84.50 points.

Brittany Washington placed third for the Owls in the 400m with a time of 57.96 to score six points. In the 800m, Rice tallied 25 points with four of the top five runners including winner Keltie John (2:15.94). Sophie Peeters was third (2:19.81), Vicki Walker was fourth (2:21.66), and senior Claire Shorall finished fifth (2:21.85).

In the mile, Britany Williams placed second (4:56.07), behind former Owl Lennie Waite (unattached) who was first at 4:44.12. Marie Thompson was fourth (5:03.21), and Shorall was fifth at 5:04.04. Heather Olson also placed eighth (5:10.16).

The Owls picked up five points in the 5000m as Michaela Reynolds placed fifth (18:41.89). In the 60m hurdles, Kim Stanford finished ninth to score a point with a time of 8.97.

The 4x400m relay team of Sarah Lyons, Vicki Walker, Lucie Cincinatis, and Brittany Washington placed seventh (3:57.32). Also, the Owls' distance medley relay squad of Addie Quinn, Maya Kirk, Halsey Fowler, and Marie Thompson was first at 12:41.53.

In the field events, Kiri Kendall placed second in the high jump at 1.60m/5-3.00 to score eight points. Ari Ince placed third in the pole vault at 3.70m/12-1.50 and Cleona Oliver was seventh at 3.25m/10-8.00.

Shannon Moran placed sixth in the long jump at 5.32m/17-5.00, while Sara Agara placed second in the triple jump (11.99m/39-4.00). Kendall was also sixth in the triple jump at 11.70m/38-4.75.

Tina Robinson placed third in the weight throw with a mark of 15.50m/50-10.25. Katie Dollinger was fifth at 14.83m/48-8.00 and Brittany Brown was seventh (14.01m/45-11.75).
