2016 Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational Results
HOUSTON - The Rice Owls women's track and field team posted four, top-three results in their season-opening meet at Friday's Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational on the campus of the University of Houston.
Rice junior All-American jumper Daisy Ding picked up where she left off in 2015 by winning her third career indoor triple jump competition. Last year's C-USA indoor and outdoor triple jump champion, Ding won with a final mark of 12.19m (40-00.00), which came on her final attempt. Ding also placed fourth in the high jump (1.58m) on Friday.
The other Rice individual victory came from senior Imani Mark, who notched her first career win in the 400m dash with a time of 57.67 (indoor PR).
The Owls also got top-three finishes on Friday from senior Belle MacFarlane (3rd-High Jump-1.68m) and junior Ijeoma Ugwunze (3rd-Shot Put-13.18m).
Rice senior All-American thrower Claire Uke competed unattached in the shot put and posted the top mark at 14.93m (48-11.75). In addition, current men's assistant coach and former Owl legend Funmi Jimoh won the long jump (6.45m) while competing for Nike.
The Owls will return to action Jan. 29-30 when they partake in the Howie Ryan Invitational (UH).
