The Rice women's tennis team will enjoy their only home action of the fall when play opens in the Rice Fall Invitational on Friday morning at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium. There is no admission charge for the matches.

Rice will face off against players from Houston, UT-Arllington, Northwestern State, Montana, McNeese State, Texas AM, Texas State and Abilene Christian. Play begins at 8:30 with the opening round of doubles. Two rounds of doubles and the opener round of singles are scheduled to be played on Friday.

The Owls ended the 2013 spring campaign ranked 22nd after capturing the Conference USA title. Junior Natalie Beazant became the school's first All American since 1986. Beazant opened the fall season ranked 21st in singles and was joined in the rankings by senior Dominique Harmath who was ranked 49th.

Both Beazant and Harmath will miss the Rice Invitational as both will compete in the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships which kick off with qualifying matches on September 28.

Beazant has qualified for the main singles draw while Harmath will play in the singles qualifying round which gets underway on Sunday at UCLA. The pair, who are ranked 10th in doubles, will also play in the doubles main draw, which will be played at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California
