HOUSTON, Texas - After winning a second-straight Conference USA title, Rice University women's tennis learns its NCAA destination on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The selections will be broadcast online at NCAA.com.
The Owls will host alumni and fans in Tudor Fieldhouse to watch the unveiling of the bracket. The event will be held in the Rice women's basketball team room, located off the building's front lobby, beginning at 4:15 p.m.
The first and second rounds are set for May 9-10 on campus sites. The final 16 teams will then travel to Athens, Ga. for the May 15 third round and May 17 quarterfinals. Georgia will then host the semifinals and national championship on May 19-20.
2014 marks the third-straight team appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the Owls. Rice advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2012 with wins over Illinois and Mississippi. Head coach Elizabeth Schmidt's squad then knocked off Pepperdine last season to advance to the Round of 32.
Rice claimed the 2014 C-USA title with a 4-2 win over top-seeded Tulsa last week in Norfolk, Va. The tournament win propelled the team to No. 19 in the NCAA rankings.
