The Rice women’s tennis team will open its quest to win a fifth consecutive Conference USA Championship at 10 a.m. on Friday when the top seeded Owls take on either Southern Miss or UTSA at the Waranch Tennis Complex in Denton, Texas.
Southern Miss and UTSA will open the C-USA tournament at 9 a.m. on Thursday, the first of four matches on the opening day of action.
Rice (15-5) earned the top seed for the third time in the last five years and will be looking to become the first school to win five consecutive women’s tennis team titles in conference history. Rice also earned the top seed in the tournament in 2013 and 2015 and won the title as the two seed in both 2014 and 2016.
The Owls will enter postseason play on a six match winning streak, capped by a 7-0 win over C-USA foe Louisiana Tech last Saturday on Senior Day.
