Rice senior Dominique Harmath has been named the C-USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week on the strength of an undefeated run through three dual matches last week.
Harmath won all three matches in both doubles and singles as the Owls posted wins over Missouri at home and William & Mary and Yale on the road. She capped her 6-0 week by winning her 90th career dual singles match (and ninth consecutive win) in the Owls' win over No. 52 Yale. Harmath became the seventh Owl, and second this year, to reach 90 career wins in dual singles. She has a career singles mark of 90-40.
She and her Owl teammates have three remaining home matches before they defend their C-USA team title at the Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship, which will be hosted by Old Dominion University from April 17-20. The Owls will host No. 31 DePaul on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Jake Hess, followed by a match with 16th ranked Baylor on April 9 then hosting UTSA on Senior Day, Sunday, April 13.
This is Harmath's first Athlete of the Week Award this season and second of her career. She joins Liat Zimmermann in earning the weekly award this year.
