Natalie Beazant will have a busy Sunday in her final competition of the fall, after advancing to the finals in both the main draw singles and doubles at the Longhorn Invitational held at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin.
Beazant earned a berth in the singles final with a pair of wins on Saturday. She opened play with a rugged three-set win over Lina Padegimaite of the host Texas Longhorns. Padegimaite took the opening set, but Beazant rallied to win the second and then grind out a decisive win in a third-set tiebreaker, 3-6; 6-2; 7-6(6)), to move on to face Lauren Burich in the semifinals. After capturing the first set, she needed another winning effort in a tiebreak to advance to Sunday's final, 6-2; 7-6(10). She will face off against Wichita State's Julia Schiller in the singles final at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Beazant and Padegimaite will meet again on Sunday as part of the main draw doubles final. Beazant and junior Stephanie Nguyen teamed to win their second straight match by an 8-6, defeating Sara Castellano and Klaudia Gawlik of McNeese State to move on to face Texas' tandem of Padegimaite and Elizabeth Begley to decide the doubles title.
In consolation action, Kimberly Anicete and Liat Zimmermann advance to the consolation doubles final with an 8-5 win over Malena Gordo and Andrea Ternera of SFA. They will face UTSA's Isabelle Jonsson and Miriam Rosell Canudas.
The Longhorn Invitational will wrap up the fall tournament schedule for the Owls.
