IRVING, Tex. -- Rice sophomore Madison Livingston has been named the Conference USA Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced from its headquarters in Irving, Tex., on Wednesday (Oct. 30).
Livingston won three individual events to pace the Owl swimmers on the final day of competition at the Rice-Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Medical Center Fall Invitational Saturday afternoon (Oct. 27) at the Aquatics Center Competition Pool. In the two-day meet she stormed back from a second place finish in the 200-yard individual medley on Friday (Oct. 26) to win all three events she entered Saturday.
The Kentfield, Calif., native opened with a win over 17 other competitors in the 400-individual medley (4:31.76) and then came back three events later to lead a 1-2 Rice finish in the 100-breaststroke with Lilly Marrow (1:07.21 and 1:07.29, respectively). Livingston then made it three-for-three on the day with a victory in the 200-breaststroke (2:23.12) over 16 other entries.
The C-USA Swimmer of the Week award is the first of Livingston's career. She joins Oct. 16 honoree Erin Flanigan to earn the award for Rice this season.
