Owls Return to Action on Oct. 25 at Rice Invitational
Oct. 15, 2013
Rice's Casey Clark has been named the C-USA Swimmer of the Week for Oct. 8-14, the league office announced from its headquarters in Irving, Tex., on Tuesday (Oct. 15). Tulane's Lauren Arnold is the C-USA Diver of the Week.
Clark posted three of the best early-season times in the conference in Rice's opening meet of the year last Friday (Oct. 11) against national power Texas. The Spring, Tex., native swam a 1:49.27 in the 200-yard freestyle and a steady 55.52 in the 100-butterfly. She also swam the lead leg on the Owls' sprint relay, where her 50-freestyle intermediate time (23.88) is the fastest in the conference. With Clark on the lead leg of the 4x50, Rice posted C-USA's fastest 200-free relay with a mark of 1:36.33. The Swimmer of the Week award is Clark's first of the season, and the second time to earn the honor in her Rice career.
The Owl swim team will host its next meet on Oct. 25-26 as part of the annual two-day Rice Invitational. Crosstown rival Houston and Incarnate Word join Rice in a full schedule of events at the Owls' Competition Pool.
