The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recognized the Rice women's swimmers as a Scholar All-American Team after posting a 3.58 grade point average during the 2013 spring semester.
The 3.58 GPA is a cumulative total from 26 student-athletes on the team's 2012-2013 roster. Rice's GPA was tied for sixth-highest in the nation among Division I swim teams (including both women's and men's swim programs). Earlier this year, the NCAA gave a special public recognition award to the Rice swimmers as the team each achieved an APR rate in the top 10 percent of all squads nationwide.
Last spring the Owls won the Conference USA championship in swimming for the second time in three years. Rice swimming is under the direction of head coach Seth Huston, who recently completed his eleventh year at the helm of the program.
