Honorable Mention CSCAA Scholar All-Americans
Casey Clark has been named a first team Scholar All-America by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), one of six individual Owls recognized by the organization for academic and athletic success during the 2014 spring semester.
Last week the entire Rice swim team was recognized by the CSCAA for its cumulative 3.43 semester grade point average. On July 14 Clark was named a CSCAA first team Scholar All-America, while fellow Owls Quincy Christian, Erin Flanigan, Chelsea Fong, Cora McKenzie and Karina Wlostowska all earned honorable mention Scholar All-America.
Clark had a sensational season in leading the Rice swim team to its third Conference USA championship in the last four years. The junior from Spring, Texas, won C-USA individual championships and set three new school records in the 200-freestyle and both the 100- and 200-butterfly. She qualified to represent Rice in three events at the NCAA Championships.
Rice swimming is under the direction of head coach Seth Huston, who recently completed his 12th year at the helm of the program.
