The Rice senior duo of Alicia Caldwell and Lauren Rhodes both won two individual events and swam on four winning relays to pace the Owl swim team to the meet title of the Fall Splash Invitational Saturday afternoon on campus at the Competition Pool.
Rice won the meet with a total of 370.5 points scored from 16 events over two sessions. Incarnate Word was second with a total of 208.5 points. The University of Houston finished third with 83 points.
Caldwell won both the 100-backstroke and the 200-freestyle with times of 56.20 and 1:50.43, respectively. Rhodes blazed to a pair of wins in the freestyle sprints, posting a 23.31 in the 50-free and a 51.46 in the 100. The duo also combined to help the Blue & Gray sweep the day's four relays, including the 200- and 400-free, and the 200- and 400-medley.
Rice junior Marie-Claire Schillinger swept both breaststroke events with a 1:03.00 in the 100 and a 2:18.56 in the 200. Senior Kaitlyn Swinney claimed both individual medleys with a 2:04.93 in the 200 and a 4:24.15 in the 400. Other Rice winners were Hanna Huston (500-freestyle, 4:57.26), Riley Linhardt (200-backstroke, 2:02.27) and Hannah Sumbera (200-butterfly, 2:03.91). Kiley Beall meanwhile swam on three of the Owls winning relays.
