Sophomore Standout Swims 1:59.04 In Prelims
March 23, 2013
Rice sophomore Casey Clark wrapped-up her third and final event Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Swimming Championships in Indianapolis.
Clark swam a steady 1:59.04 in the prelims of the 200-yard butterfly to finish 38th among a field of more than 50 competitors. She did not qualify for the evening's event finals. Earlier this season she set a new Rice record in the 200-fly with a time of 1:57.35.
The 200-butterfly was Clark's third race in the NCAA Championships in just two days. She also represented Rice in both the 100-butterfly and 200-freestyle held on Friday. Last month the Owl standout from Spring, Tex., helped lead Rice to the 2013 Conference USA championship in women's swimming. She set three new school records in just her second year of swimming at the college level.
