Clark Completes First Two Events at NCAA Swim Championships
Final Event Is 100-Freestyle on Saturday
March 21, 2014
Rice junior Casey Clark closed out her first day of action at the NCAA Swimming Championships competing in two events Friday afternoon in Minneapolis, Minn.
Clark swam a 53.07 in the prelims of the 100-yard butterfly to finish 32nd among a field of 60 competitors. She did not qualify for the event finals to be held later this evening. Last November the Owl standout from Spring, Tex., set a new Rice record in the event with a time of 52.85.
Soon after the conclusion of the 100-butterfly, Clark turned right around and competed in the 200-freestyle. She posted a time of 1:49.15 to finish 49th in the prelims. Her season-best in the 200-free is the school record 1:45.69 that she registered while swimming the lead leg on the Owls' 800-free relay at the Texas Invitational.
Clark has one more race to swim at the NCAA Championships. She competes in the prelims of the 100-freestyle on Saturday.
