Owls Win Team Title At UIW Invitational
More than 2,500 Conference USA athletes honored
2014-2015: Conference USA Academic Honor Roll; Versatile enough to compete in a host of different events over the course of the season... Posted a career-best 56.44 in the 100-yard butterfly at the C-USA Championships in Knoxville, Tenn.... Swam season-bests of 23.81 in the 50, and 56.71 in the 100-backstroke, at the conference meet.
2013-2014: Conference USA Academic Honor Roll; Scored a total of 32 points competing in three individual events to help the Owls win the team title of the inaugural National Collegiate Classic... Finished seventh overall in the NCC's 200-backstroke and was eighth in the 100-back after a season-best 56.62 in the meet prelims... Won the consolation finals of the 100-butterfly after a season-best 56.91 in the prelims... Also scored for the Blue & Gray in two events at the C-USA Championships... Finished 17th overall in the 100-backstroke and was 18th in the 50-freestyle after a season-best 23.76... Best mark of the year in the 200-backstroke (2:06.77) was in the fall at the Houston Invitational.
2012-2013: C-USA Academic Honor Roll; Scored 21 points at the C-USA Championships in first season of Division I swimming to help the Owls win the second league title in the program's history... Qualified third for the finals of the 100-yard backstroke at the C-USA Championships with a career-best 55.59 in the morning prelims, the fourth-fastest time in school history and fastest-ever by any Owl freshman... Went on to finish sixth in the league in the 100-backstroke (56.25)... Scored for the team with an 11th place finish in the 200-back after a season-best 2:01.94 in the prelims (just missing the C-USA's championship final by .01-seconds)... Swam a season-best 23.52 in the morning prelims of the 50-freestyle before finishing 15th in the conference overall... Registered a season-best 56.84 in a timed trial of the 100-butterfly at the C-USA meet held across town at the University of Houston.
High School - A 2012 graduate of Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, N.C... Twice named the swim team's Most Valuable Player... Served as the team captain in 2011-2012... Earned the Knight Pride Award as the best all-around athlete as a senior... Anchored the 200-freestyle relay team that won the 2012 North Carolina state championship... Coached at Ardrey Kell by William Keith... Also attended Charter School of Wilmington (DE) where she won four state titles as a freshman... Personal - Name: Shannon Nicole Foreman. Born: August 28, 1993, in Wilmington, Delaware. Parents: John and Lisa Foreman of Charlotte, N.C. (two sisters). Father was a basketball letterman at Delaware in 1983-84. Three uncles all played college football. Worked with age group swim club and volunteered community service with Special Olympics, Shoeboxes for Soldiers and Make A Splash. Chose to attend Rice because of " the balance between academics and athletics was exactly what I was looking for.
