Clark Sets New Rice Record To Win Third-Straight Conference USA Title In 100-Butterfly
2013-2014: Conference USA Academic Honor Roll; Scored 92 points, the third-highest total on the team, to help lead the Owls to the program's third Conference USA Championship in the last four years... Swam on three C-USA winning relays and reached the championship final of three events... Finished second (to teammate Casey Clark) in the C-USA's 100-butterfly with the second-fastest mark in school history, an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 53.54... Registered one of the Top 10 times in school history with a career-best 23.23 in the 50-freestyle in the fall, and went on to take fourth overall in the conference... Placed seventh in the conference in the 100-free after a career-best 50.61 in the fall... Member of two relays that set new school records, the 400-FR and 400-MR (where she swam the butterfly leg)... C-USA contributions are only part of the season as she also scored 38 points to help the Owls claim the inaugural National Collegiate Classic... Finished fifth in the National Collegiate Classic's 100-butterfly after a 55.23 in the prelims.
2012-2013: C-USA Academic Honor Roll; Break-through season included scoring 62.5 points at the C-USA Championships, the third-highest total on the team to help the Owls win the second league title in the program's history... Won the C-USA bronze medal in the 100-butterfly behind teammate and first-place finisher Casey Clark with a career-best time of 54.50... Displayed successful versatility at various freestyle distances, where she was one of only two swimmers in the entire conference to score in both the 100- and 500-yard freestyle events... Finished 11th in the 100-free with a career-best time of 50.72... Placed 12th in the rugged 500 with a career-best 4:55.05... One of two Owls to swim on four relays at conference, and three of her four set new school records in the 200-medley, 400-medley and 400-free.. Swam the third leg of the 200-medley relay that won conference with a time of 1:40.52... Anchor leg of the 400-medley 3:41.86... Sprint relay member who won a silver medal and posted the fastest time at Rice in five years.
2011- 2012: C-USA Academic Honor Roll; Won the consolation finals of the 50-yard freestyle at the C-USA Championships as a true freshman with a season-best time of 23.44, the Owls' third-fastest mark of the season... Scored a total of 22.5 points at the C-USA meet by placing in two individual events and an Owl relay... Finished 12th in the league in the 100-freestyle with a personal-best 51.39... Swam the second-leg of the 200-freestyle relay that was third in the conference with the fourth-fastest time in school history... One of three true-freshmen on the sprint relay... Also swam the 200-free at the C-USA meet where she posted a season-best 1:54.06... Posted a season-best 5:09.18 in the 500-free at the Phill Hansel Invitational in the fall.
High School - A 2011 graduate of Plano Senior High School in Plano, Tex.... Eight-time High School All-America... Junior National qualifier/finalist... Individual finalist at the state championships... Helped the Wildcats win the District 7-5A title and regional championship, and finish third overall in the state meet... Swam a career-best 23.66 in the 50-yard freestyle as a senior... Member of the Dallas Morning News Relay Team of the Year... Coached by Philip Wiggins... National Honor Society and National French Honor Society member.

Personal - Full name: Marissa Anne Konicke. Born: August 18, 1993, at Elgin Air Force Base near Valparaiso, Florida. Parents: Thomas and Patricia Konicke of Flower Mound, Tex. (two sisters). Both sisters swam at the Division I level, including Kelsey for four years at New Mexico State and Genny, who will be a senior at SMU in 2011-2012. Chose to attend Rice over Missouri, Illinois and SMU. Active in community service and charity work through the National Honor Society. Rice College: Baker
