Owls Set Three New School Records; Meet Continues Through Saturday At U.H. Natatorium

At Rice
2011- 2012: Won the Catherine Hannah Award as the program's Swimmer of the Year for a second-straight season; Conference USA Academic Honor Roll; Rice University Honor Athlete; Hard work in the off-season set the stage for an outstanding sophomore campaign that included an individual silver medal at the C-USA Championships, 78 points scored at the conference meet, six new career-bests, setting a new facility record at the Rice Competition Pool and a new school record with her teammates in the 800-freestyle relay... Finished second in the conference in the 50-yard freestyle with a career-best 23.21... Placed fourth in the C-USA 200-free and seventh in the 100 after a 1:49.19 and 50.78 in the respective prelims of both events... Swam on four of the five Owl relays that all took second place at the league championships, including the 800-free foursome that broke a three-year old school record... Anchor leg of both the 400-medley sprint relay squads... Set the Rice Competition Pool facility record in the 200-IM (2:05.61) in the season-opening dual meet against nationally-ranked SMU... Also registered the fastest Rice times ever recorded at the Competition Pool in the 50-free (23.97) and 100-free (51.78)... Tallied a career-best 4:55.81 while stepping-up to the 500-freestyle in the annual Quad Meet with Houston, LSU and Tulane... Registered a personal-best 56.62 in the 100-butterfly at the Phill Hansel Invitational in the Fall.

2010-2011 Shared Rice's Catherine Hannah Award (with Shelby Bottoms) as the program's Swimmer of the Year; Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll; C-USA Swimmer of the Week (Dec. 9); Scored the most points (76) of any Owl at the C-USA Championship meet... Reached the championship finals of three individual events and swam on four relays at the conference meet... Finished third in the C-USA's 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.73, the sixth-fastest mark in school history... Placed fourth in the league in the 200-freestyle with a 1:50.10, the sixth-fastest mark in school history and the best-ever by an Owl freshman... Took seventh in the conference in the 100-free with a 51.03, the ninth-fastest time in school history and fourth-best ever by any Rice freshman... Swam the third leg of the second-fastest 400-medley relay in Rice history... Was the lead leg of the fourth-fastest 800-freestyle relay in school history... Set the facility record at the Rice Aquatics Center in the 200-free (1:51.12) in a meet against the Miami Hurricanes... Posted a 52.37 in the 100-free at the Aquatics Center, the best mark by an Owl at the venue... Member of the Owls' medley relay that set the Aquatics Center facility record... Tallied a season-best 23.74 in the 50-free at the Phill Hansel Invitational in the fall, which remained as one of the top sprints on the team until the conference meet in the spring... Finished fourth on the squad in the 100-butterfly with a season-best 58.20.

A 2010 graduate of Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, Calif... Three-time High School All-America honoree... Helped the Matadors win 2009 league championship... First place at CCS for two years...
