Swimmers Next Look To National Invitational Meet Starting Monday
Clark Finishes 25th In The Nation in 100-Butterfly; 200-Medley Relay Places 29th
2013-2014: Swimmer of the Meet at the Conference USA Championships; Four time C-USA Swimmer of the Week honoree (Oct. 15, Oct. 29, Nov. 26, Jan. 28); C-USA Academic Honor Roll; Earned the program's Catherine E. Hannah Award, presented annually to Rice's top swimmer since 1979, for the second time in as many years... Competed in the NCAA Championships in the 100- and 200 free, and 100-fly... Best NCAA finish was 32nd in the nation in the 100-fly (53.07)... Won three C-USA individual championships (the 100- and 200-butterfly, and the 200-yard freestyle) and swam on four winning relays to help the Owls claim the conference team title for the third time in four years... Scored a team-best 120 of the program's 1,000 total points accumulated at the C-USA Championships... Set three new individual school records: the 100-fly (52.85), 200-fly (1:57.28) and 200-free (1:45.69)... Contributed on three relays that set new school records, the 400-FR, 200-MR and 400-MR... Usually swims the fly on medley relays, but shocked the league by taking the lead leg of the C-USA 400-MR and promptly posted the second-fastest 100-backstroke in school history (54.97) to provisionally qualify NCAA Championships... Swam the lead leg of the year's fastest 800-FR at conference... Helped set a facility record at the Rice Competition Pool by swimming the butterfly in the 400-MR (3:48.24)... Registered Rice's marks at home in the Competition Pool with a 55.45 in the 100-fly and a 2:02.46 in the 200-fly.
2012-2013: C-USA Academic Honor Roll; C-USA Swimmer of the Week (Dec. 18); Recipient of the swim program's Catherine Hannah Award; Scored a team-leading 90 points at the C-USA Championships to help the Owls win the second league title in the program's history... Won two C-USA individual events, taking first place in both the 100- and 200-butterfly... Owls' first multi-event individual conference champion since Mandy Mularz in the Western Athletic Conference in 2002... Tallied three new school records with a 53.01 in the 100-butterfly, a 1:57.35 in the 200-butterfly and a 1:45.78 in the 200-freestyle... Shattered the previous 100-fly record that had stood for 16 years (1997)... Set 200-free record as the lead leg of the C-USA 800-relay... Finished third at conference in the 100-free with a 49.47, the best by an Owl since Mularz in 2002... One of two Owls to swim on four relays at conference, and three of her four set new school records in the 400-medley, 400-free and 800... Swam the 100-backstroke at the Incarnate Word Invitational in December and went 55.31.
2011- 2012: Participated in two events at the 2012 United States Olympic Trials... Swam a 2:05.87 in 200-meter freestyle prelims (June 27) where she finished 87th out of the top women's swimmers in the United States... Went 1:02.38 in the 100-meter butterfly prelims (June 25) to place 108th out of the top 162 U.S. women (She did not advance to the finals of either event)... Shared the team's Rookie of the Year award (with Erin Flanigan) as the Owls' top new swimmer; Conference USA Academic Honor Roll; Won three individual bronze medals, and swam on four medal-winning relays, to lead the Owls in scoring with 82 points at the C-USA Championships... Broke a 15-year-old school record to take third place in the C-USA's 100-yard butterfly with time of 54.15... Posted the second-fastest marks in Rice history in both the 100- and 200-freestyle with times of 50.02 and 1:47.75, respectively... Finished third in the 100-free at conference (50.05) after a 50.02 in the morning prelims... The 1:47.75 in the 200-free was on the lead leg of the school record-setting 800-free relay that finished second at the C-USA meet... Lead leg on both the 200- and 400-free relays which are among the best in school history...Swam butterfly on the second-fastest 400-medley relay in school history that took second in the C-USA meet... Finished third in the C-USA's 200-fly on the strength of a season-best 2:02.15, then came right back and closed out the meet in the 400-relay... Split from the sprint relay (23.22) was the Blue & Gray's second-fastest 50-free all season long... Registered the fastest 100-fly ever recorded by an Owl at home at the Aquatics Center with a 56.37 during the Rice Invitational.
High School - A 2011 graduate of Klein High School in Klein, Texas... United States Open qualifier/participant... Twice named the District 13-5A Swimmer of the Year at Klein who helped lead the Bearkats to four district titles and three Top 5 finishes at the state championships... Set five individual Klein records and swam on three record-setting relays... Earned 20 NISCA high school All-America awards during prep career... Won the regional championship in the 100-yard butterfly and four 13-5A titles... State runner-up in both the 100-fly and 200-freestyle... Served two seasons as the Bearkats team captain... Coached by Tom Harwood... Outstanding student... Member of the National Honor Society and Latin Honor Society... USA Swimming Scholastic All-America.
Club - U.S. Nationals qualifier/participant... Swam for Premier Aquatics under head coach Mike McCauley... Short-course national qualifier.
