HOUSTON - Rice's Lauren LaGro and Quinney Truong have earned postseason honors from the Internet web site

The duo helped lead Rice soccer to the 2012 Conference USA regular season co-championship. Under head coach Nicky Adams the Owls went 11-7-3 for the most wins the program has recorded in five years.

Earlier this week Truong was named an All-Central Region honoree by the soccer coaches association. The sophomore from Fort Worth, Tex., was fourth on the Owls in minutes as a starter in the midfield, playing 92 percent of the team's total time. Truong scored the game-tying goal against Big 12 power Oklahoma and also had a goal on the road at UAB. She assisted on game-winning goals in back-to-back games vs. Sam Houston State and Tulsa while maintaining a .400 shots-on-goal percentage. The C-USA head coaches voted Truong a first-team all-league honoree.

LaGro is a senior defender who has been a fixture in the starting lineup the last four years. The Dallas, Tex., native earned second team all-conference honors after starting all 21 matches where she was often assigned to mark the opposing team's top scoring threat. Overall the Rice backline recorded eight complete game shutouts and held opponents to just 11.7 shots per game. LaGro served at the Owls' team captain, and she also was a Rice star in the classroom who earned academic all-region and all-conference honors.
