Members of the Rice soccer team joined a contingent of Conference USA student-athletes playing at this week's C-USA tournament who took time to visit the famed St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Thursday afternoon in Memphis, Tenn.

Players from the league's four semifinalist teams (Rice, UTEP, East Carolina and Memphis) were given a tour of the facility and learned some of the history behind the organization. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital costs 1.7 million per day to run, but the care is free for all patients and their families. No family or patient is turned away.

The Owl soccer team (10-7-3) next meets UTEP in the C-USA Tournament's semifinal round on Friday (Nov. 4) at 5 pm. The tournament concludes with a championship final on Nov. 6 at 1 pm. That game will be televised by CBS Sports Network. The conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament is at stake in the eight-team, single-elimination event.
