What another great weekend!!! We came away with two awesome wins and are now sitting third in conference (behind SMU and UCF, who are tied for first). Our game against Tulane on Friday started out really well: we moved the ball well, defended as a team, and were able to put three goals away in the first half. We even scored off of two corner kicks, something we have not been able to do consistently all year. Yet, for whatever reason, we stopped playing in the second half. We lost the intensity and fire we had during the first 45 minutes of play, and, as a result, got scored on in the last two minutes of the game (off of a corner, yet again). It turned out to be one of those games that even though we won, it felt like a loss because of how we played. We didn't come out for the full 90 minutes, a theme that keeps repeating itself throughout our season.
As for Sunday's game, all I can say is HECK YEAH!!! We came out and played hard and knocked off UTEP who, at the time, were in first place. It felt great to be able to play well throughout the whole game and get such a great result because of it. Caitlin Robbins had an amazing game, completing her first hat trick of her collegiate career!!! She also had a great weekend (she scored 5 goals in all) and received her second Offensive Player of the Week. We're all so proud. On top of the win, it was Senior Day for me, Kelly, and Amanda. I don't really know what to say about that...The season's not over so I'm not upset, and we won, so really, I have nothing to be sad about. I just want to keep playing well and savor every moment I have left.
This weekend we travel to Florida and then onto Mississippi. Again, we are faced with an opportunity to knock of the first place team and move ourselves into better seating for the tournament. None of us are taking any of these next two games lightly and we all know what is at stake. If we win out, we'll finish no less than first or second (depending on SMU does). If we lose...well, let's not think about that! Wish us luck and we'll be seeing all of y'all when we get home! GO OWLS!
