JUST FOR KICKS - Meet The Rice Soccer Team!
Oct. 23, 2012
Meet the members of the Rice soccer team in the Q & A feature, "Just For Kicks". In today's profile true freshman Jasmine Isokunwu is in the starting lineup to face the rugged questions 1-v-1.
Isokpunwu has worked her way into starting 18 of the team's 19 games this season and has played more minutes (1,415) than any other Owl freshman. In addition to solid defense, the Austin, Tex., native was credited with an assist in the 1-0 victory over UTEP.

I chose to attend Rice because: I knew the education was top of the line and when I came on my unofficial visit, the people were so welcoming. Also the soccer team seemed so close and intertwined; it made me want to be a part of the program.
What I like most about college life at Rice: FREEDOM!! Being a freshman and all, I'm enjoying the freedom and ability to feel more `grown-up'! Also, people are accepting of all sorts here. I mean, I know they said that when you were coming into high school, but they just didn't want to scare you. At Rice, you can really be your complete self here because there's a guarantee that there are people here just like you.
I'll be loyal to my Rice College because: IT'S THE BEST!!! I learned to love my college, ups and downs!
One athlete (but a non soccer player) I would like to meet is: Someone from the golf team.
One person (but a non athlete) I would like to meet is: Someone that's on a club soccer team at Rice
When I last looked, I had this many friends on Facebook: 500+... I think.
My favorite person/site to follow on Twitter: @SoccerGrlProbs!
My favorite moment of my soccer career so far: When I scored a game winning goal... by doing a bicycle... in the last 10seconds of the game. Yes, this is why they call me J-nursty.
So far in my career, I've probably been through this many pair of soccer shoes: Uhhhhh, not that many actually...I got through a pair every 2 ½ years... I just turned 18, soooo, that would be 7.2, BUT not including the years when my feet grew and I had to get a new pair every year. So in that case.. I would say about 11 pairs, give or take a pair.
The person who got me interested in soccer was: My father!
The very first kids' soccer team I ever played for was nicknamed: The Monarchs... "float like a butterfly, STING LIKE A BEE!" That was our motto.
I chose my Rice jersey number because: I didn't...It chose me.
The best soccer advice I ever had was: "There's no I in team...but there's a me, so take it yourself and PUT THE BALL IN THE BACK OF THE NET!!"
My favorite sport besides soccer is: Track
I describe myself as: Awesome.
My teammates think I...: Can dance well
Other than myself, the Rice Owl to keep an eye on this season is: Dubb, she's an awesome defender and a great leader/person on and off the field.
The Rice soccer player with the best non-soccer talent is: Caroline. She dances a VERY well!
