The season is quickly coming to an end and our final four games of conference are upon us. We are 3-1-1 in conference after a disappointing tie to our cross-town rival Houston. We played hard throughout the whole game but our weakness on defending corners and our inability to finish caused us to end the game with 17 shots and only one goal. While we're still seated in the top-third of the conference, we know we need four BIG wins in order to secure our place in the conference tournament.
This Friday we'll be facing Tulane, a team that--while they have been struggling all season--has the ability to come in and create a huge upset. For the past few days we have practiced defending against a 4-4-2 and I think we're finally starting to get it. Hopefully this week of practice will allow us to defend better as a team and find success against two opponents that will come at us with a formation we have struggled with all year. UTEP is on Sunday--probably our biggest game of the year. UTEP is currently first in conference and, until last weekend, was undefeated. While we have beaten them in the past, they are always a battle and we will definitely have to play our best in order to come out on top.
This is our last weekend at home before the conference tournament (not to mention it's Senior Day on Sunday), so y'all better come out and support us!!!! This is going to be an exciting weekend for us and we can't wait for it to start!
