With an unbeaten streak of five-straight matches, the Rice soccer team is back home at Holloway Field this weekend. The Owls (3-1-2) host Mountain West Conference foe Air Force at 7 pm on Saturday (Sept. 20).
Earlier in the week Rice soccer received a pair of votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 (listed above). The Owls are also ranked fifth in the most-recent NSCAA Central Regional Poll. The Air Force Falcons (3-3-0) enter the weekend match riding a three-game win-streak. Rice head coach Nicky Adams previews the upcoming match in the above video.
Ongoing maintenance to the bleachers at Ley Track/Holloway Field continues and the latest projections indicate the work will not be completed until later this fall, making it highly unlikely they will be available during the women's soccer season.
Athletics Marketing and Facilities teams are in process of expanding and enhancing the temporary seating accommodations for fans. Soccer season ticket holders will be provided seat backs for their seating area, and Rice is working on additional enhancements for the area.
Over the past year, Rice Athletics initiated a comprehensive study to address the current and future facility needs for the student-athletes competing in track & field and soccer. The current configuration has served Rice well since 1965. This study will determine a path forward that meets the needs of the programs and fits into the long term facility plan.
