This past week was quite the week for the Rice soccer team. Friday night's win against HBU set the tone for the weekend. By the time Sunday came, everyone was ready to play the University of Texas. Having never beaten them, we came out hard and although we were out-shot, Sam managed to sneak one past the keeper.
It was a great feeling for all of us to win against a top ten nationally-ranked team. Not only that, it was a big step for the program. We knew we needed to play up to the next level and did so, proving to ourselves that we are capable of anything. Amy received recognition on the national level while both she and Sam received conference players of the week. They both had a great game! What a great end to a long week!
This week has been full of lots of work, practice, and a Wednesday night game against Texas Southern. We came away with a big win and improved our record to 6-0-1. We play SFA this Sunday and hope to come away with another win!
This entry is definitely lacking in the entertainment category but everyone on the team seemed to take advantage of the time not traveling by catching up with their classes and trying to get work done. I hope to have some fun stories for you next week though!
