Owls Open Fall Soccer Training
Rice Hosts U.H. In Exhibition Match on August 16

Rice head soccer coach Nicky Adams welcomed 16 returning letterwinners and seven new freshmen on the first day of preseason training Wednesday (Aug. 7).
The Owls focused on conditioning and underwent a host of technical drills in the first of its two daily training sessions during the preseason. Rice hosts an exhibition match on August 16 (Friday) against the University of Houston at 7 pm. The Blue & Gray officially open the 2013 season on August 23 at home against longtime state rival and NCAA Tournament participant Stephen F. Austin. Start time is slated for 7 pm.
Rice returns eight of its starting 11 players from last season, including all four of the team's top goal-scores. In 2012 Rice was led in goals (10) and shots (76) by Holly Hargreaves, a sophomore from New Hope, Pa. Hargreaves was recently tabbed as a 2013 C-USA Player to Watch after being named the C-USA Freshman of the Year last season.
Soccer season tickets are $50 for reserved seating, and $99 for a family plan that includes two adult and two youth season tickets. All soccer season ticket plans include a set of Rice Soccer trading cards and two ticket vouchers to any home Rice volleyball match.
