HOUSTON - Rice's October 11 soccer game at Memphis has been picked for a television broadcast by FOX Soccer, the network announced in conjunction with the National Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association of America (NCSAA) and Conference USA.
The Rice-Memphis match has been picked as Fox Soccer's NSCAA Game of the Week. The contest is one of just eight women's games from across the country selected to appear during FOX Soccer's 12-week broadcast schedule of men's and women's college games. The Owls-Tigers showdown is set for 7 pm at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Memphis.
Rice soccer is ready for prime time TV in 2012. The Owls return nine of 11 starters from last year's team that won 10 games and advanced in the C-USA Tournament. Under the direction of head coach Nicky Adams, who is beginning her second full season at the helm of the program, four of the returning starters earned all-Conference USA honors. The Owls are also bolstered by adding an outstanding incoming freshmen class. After a Blue-Gray scrimmage on August 11, the Rice soccer season officially opens at home against Baylor on August 17.
