Members of the Rice University soccer team taught fundamental skills and participated in relay races as well as other activities during a girls-only field day last week at the Nehemiah Center.
The Nehemiah Center, which is located just minutes from the Rice campus, serves as a safe haven as both a school and after-school program for at-risk populations. Activities at the center work to motivate, inspire and equip young people to realize their full potential.
The Nehemiah Center is one of nearly 50 local organizations which benefit from Rice student-athletes devoting their time, energy and talents. To date, Rice student-athletes have logged over 3,000 hours of community service this academic year.
