Rice Posts Highest Single-Game Goal Total Since 2008

HOUSTON -- The Rice soccer team posted its biggest goal outburst in five years on the way to a 5-3 victory over visiting Lamar Friday night at Holloway Field on the Rice campus.
The Owls' sophomore forward tandem of Lauren Hughes and Holly Hargreaves combined for two goals each, and junior midfielder Quinny Truong added her first goal of the season on the way to the program's biggest scoring night since 2008. Hughes also registered a pair of assists, while Truong and Gabriela Iribarne had one assist. The Blue & Gray held a 22-13 margin in shots and 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Rice improved to 2-2-1 on the season. Lamar dropped to 3-3-0 overall.
The Owls still have one more game to go in the weekend home series. The Blue & Gray next play SEC power LSU on Sunday (Sept. 15) at 1 pm.
