Highlights for Rice included the first career goal of junior midfielder Aliza Wolfe, with an assist from fellow junior Nia Stallings, in the game's 21st minute. Three Owl freshmen started in the match, including rookie goalkeeper Maya Hoyer who posted a total of eight saves in her collegiate debut. Texas A&M's Haley Pounds had three of the Aggies' four goals and an assist.
Rice next hosts crosstown foe HBU on Friday (August 26). Start time against the Huskies is scheduled for 7 pm at the newly remodeled Holloway Field.
