JUST FOR KICKS! Meet The Rice Soccer Team - Amy Beger

Rice
Tough-nosed defender from the west coast... Tackles and distributes the ball very efficiently... Powerful player with good 1-v-1 defending attributes.

2010: Delivered a solid debut season of Division I soccer... Played in all 20 games and worked her way into 13 starts, the second-most starts among the Owl freshmen... Started on opening day against Baylor and played all 90 minutes... Finished eighth on the team in total minutes (1,223)... Averaged 78.5 minutes per game over first dozen starts and played a career-high 90 four times, including shutout victories over C-USA foes UTEP and Tulsa... Helped the Owl backline hold opposing teams to just 12.6 shots per game, the lowest average by the Rice defense in three years.

Veteran defender for the Southern California Blues... Coached by Tad Bobak... Helped lead the team to the 2007 National Championship... Won the state championship in 2008, 2004 and 2003, and reached the state finals in 2009, 2007 and 2005.
