Rice -- Extremely quick defender who disrupts the opposition... Charges into senior season after another exceptional year with the program... Selected as one of the team's co-captains in 2007 after serving as a co-captain in 2006... Twin sister, Clory, is a senior forward with the team... 2006: All-Central Region (SoccerBuzz.com, first team); All-Conference USA (first team); C-USA All-Academic (honorable mention); Voted as the Owls' Player of the Year... Played in all 18 games with 17 starts... Helped the Owls emerge as one of the best defenses in the region, leading a back line that allowed the second-fewest goals (18) and shots per game (10.4) of any team in Conference USA... Key defender in the team's 10 shutouts... Scored first Rice goal in a road win at Stephen F. Austin... Assisted on her sister's school record-tying third goal of the game against crosstown foe Texas Southern... Took a season-high three shots in a televised game at Texas-El Paso... Played 1,620 of the team's 1661 minutes (97.5 percent)... 2005: All-Conference USA (second team); C-USA All-Academic; Shared the team's Player of the Year Award (with Erin Droeger)... Northwestern -- Started all 20 games at Northwestern as a true freshman in 2004... Only freshman to start every match... Helped the Wildcats to a 10-8-2 record and fifth place finish in the Big 10... Assisted on goals against Iowa and Minnesota.

Club -- Region III ODP player in 2002 and 2003 for the '86 Warriors... Won 2003 South Texas title and advanced to under-17 girls' regional semifinal.

High School -- Four-year letterwinner in soccer... Named all-Southern Preparatory Conference (SPC)... Helped team to SPC runner-up finish in 2003... Coached by Jon McCain, Bobby Murphy and Charleton Perry... Also lettered in field hockey, where she served as team captain, and track.

Personal -- Full name: Mary Elizabeth Martin. Born: May 9, 1986 at Dallas. Parents: Bill and Remie Martin, Austin (one brother, two sisters). Older sister, Abby, played competitive soccer until a career-ending injury. Brother, Lawrence, played team handball at Army (1995-98).
