Three Owls Named To C-USA Soccer First Team

Rice Meets Marshall Tonight at 7 PM

Rice -

2012: All-Conference USA (second team); C-USA Academic Honor Roll; Shared the team's Rookie of the Year Award (with Holly Hargreaves)... Outstanding first season of Division I soccer... Starting forward for 17 of the Owls' 21 matches... Finished second on the team and tied for fourth in the conference in goals (9)... Second on the team and third in C-USA in game-winning goals (4)... Only the eighth player in Rice soccer history to score goals in three consecutive games... Registered the eighth-fastest recovery goal in school history, putting the Blue & Gray back in front (2-1) after a Texas State equalizer... Scored twice on just four shots in the C-USA home victory against SMU... Attempted a total of 57 shots, the second-highest total on the team and tied for the sixth-most by an Owl in the history of the program... Tied the school record for shots-on-goal in a single-season (33, set by Erin Scott in 2006)... Maintained a .579 shots-on-goal percentage, the school's third-best single-season mark... Attempted a season-high seven shots against East Carolina.

National - Won the U-17 SYL North American Championships in 2010 and was named the MVP for the tournament... Helped lead Team Ontario to the Canadian provincial championships in both 2008 and 2010... Member of the National Training Centre Ontario (NTCO)... Coached by Dave Peak... The Rice soccer program's first signee from Canada. Two other former Owl soccer letterwinners were from Canada, but both Aimee Teteris (2002) and Chandra Ewing (2008) originally came to Rice to participate in track & field. They joined the Owls' soccer program at the end of their respective track & field careers. With Teteris and Ewing calling Toronto home, all three Canadian Soccer Owls are all from Ontario.

High School - A 2012 graduate of St. Peter Catholic High School in Orleans, Ontario... Multi-sport star who was named the Senior Female Athlete of the Year, as well as Junior Female Athlete of the Year two other times... Four-year varsity starter in soccer who led the Knights in scoring three times... Team's Most Valuable Player for four-straight years (2009-12)... Served two terms as the Knights' team captain... Coached by Ben Markatti... Versatile athlete also played senior basketball... Student Council co-president... Student leader for a student-run and organized leadership camp...Co-founder/leader of the school's an anti-bullying/acceptance group.
