Personal: Full Name: Gabriella Rae Martinez. Parents: John and Sandy Martinez of Chandler, Arizona (one brother, one sister). Chose to attend Rice over UC-Irvine and Northern Arizona.

Nicky Adams on Martinez: "One of the things we love most about Gabby is she always plays to her strengths. You always know what you are going to get with Gabby when she steps on the field. She is athletic, tall and strong, and is both technically and tactically sound. Her composure on the ball will help her fit into our system nicely, whether it is on the backline or in the midfield."

Gabby Martinez said: "My first experience of Rice was when I flew to Houston to attend its soccer camp and on my first day in camp, walking back from training, I had an epiphany: I was going to attend college at Rice. Academically, Rice offers the challenge of a competitive learning environment. The soccer team plays a beautiful style of possession that has proven to win games. The coaches, the players, and the incoming recruits are amazing people and I cannot wait to spend four years with them at my dream school."
