Rice's Beger, Fitzsimmons and LaGro Have Taken Their Soccer Careers to the Next Level

A vocal, physical and strong goalkeeper that has the ability and confidence to dominate... Chose to keep the Rice-family legacy alive and play for the Owls.

2009: Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medalist; C-USA Academic Honor Roll; Rice University Honor Athlete; Earned the program's Warrior Award, given annually to the Owl who unselfishly plays with the most heart and desire in both practices and games; Presented with the Iron Owl Award by the Rice Strength & Conditioning staff to the soccer team's top performer in the weight room; Appeared in five games with a start in one of the Owls' most memorable games of the season, a dramatic 2-1 victory over C-USA foe Memphis in a nationally-televised contest on CBS College Sports... Played all 90 minutes and made two saves for a win against a Memphis team that went on to play in the NCAA Tournament... Saw action in the shutout wins over UTEP, Southern Miss and UTSA... Played the entire second half and tied a season-high with four saves in the victory over crosstown rival Houston... Also notched four saves on the road at UTEP... Maintained an .846 save percentage and a 0.75 goals-against average.

2008: Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medalist; C-USA Academic Honor Roll; Carl Isgren Iron Owl Award from Rice University strength & conditioning staff... Appeared in eight games with one start on the road against crosstown C-USA rival Houston... Played the complete 90 minutes for the longest outing of her career... Averaged 14.7 minutes of action for eight outings... Made a total of 13 saves, with a career-best five against UH... Finished with a .722 save percentage... Contributed to four of the team's defensive shutouts... Maintained a 1.38 goals-against average... Competed for the Rice women's track & field team in the spring of 2009, throwing the shot put and hammer.

2007: C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medalist; C-USA Academic Honor Roll; Gained valuable experience in first full season of Division I soccer... Played more than 135 minutes over five games... Worked a season-long 45 minutes twice, including on the road against nationally-ranked Texas A&M... Helped hold Lamar scoreless with 45 shutout minutes... Made four saves on the season... Tallied two saves in the win over Dartmouth... Maintained a .667 save percentage.

Three-year goalkeeper for the Michigan Hawks, a team ranked in the top five the last four years... Two-time state champions... Region II Champions in 2005...USYS Semi-Finalist 2005... Played at Washington Area Girls Soccer Raleigh Shootout, Disney Showcase, NSR Cup and Adidas Final IV tournaments.

A 2007 graduate of Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor... Four-year varsity letterwinner in soccer... Voted to the Michigan High School Coaches' All Regional Team... Third team all-state selection...
