Meet The Newest Owls
High School: Attending Klein Oak High School, just north of Houston... Played 6A varsity soccer as a 9th grader, starting at center back and defensive midfield position... Outstanding student, a member of the National Honors Society... Mu Alpha Theta Club... Volunteering over 100 hours of community service.
Personal: Full Name: Alexandra E. Gonzalez. Parents: George and Kimberly Gonzalez of Houston (one sister, Briana, and one brother, Nicolas). Chose to attend Rice over New York University, Brown, Vassar, Boston College, Princeton, Trinity and Johns Hopkins. Grandfather, Johnny Egan, played eleven years in the NBA and was a coach with the hometown Houston Rockets for three seasons.
Nicky Adams on Gonzalez: "Allie is a fierce competitor who will provide depth for us in the midfield and on the backline. With Allie's commitment to growth, she will have tremendous potential which is very exciting for our program. Allie is a very hard-worker, committed to excellence, and will be a great player and teammate."
Texas Rush Head Coach Andy Squire said: "Allie is a tenacious defender or midfield player who does the selfless defensive work every successful team needs. In possession, Allie's passing range allows her to start attacks and switch play from deep positions."
Allie Gonzalez said: "I have participated in Rice soccer camps since I was a young girl. Every time I am on campus, I feel at home and excited to be a part of the Rice soccer team-- to participate in a great athletic soccer program within a great academic institution. I cannot wait to see how I will grow as a person on and off the field at this outstanding university."
