Rice University women's basketball player Brianna Hypolite has been named the Conference USA Women's Basketball Player of the Week (Dec.23), the league office announced Friday.
Hypolite, a forward from Dickinson, Texas, earned her first C-USA Player of the Week accolade by scoring a game- and season-high 29 points in an overtime loss at Stephen F. Austin (Dec. 20). She also snared a game-high nine rebounds while hitting all five of her free throws. The senior pocketed three steals and shot 34.5 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from 3-point range. After scoring only three points in the first 20-minutes of action, she exploded for 26 after halftime. Hypolite propelled the Owls from an 11-point halftime deficit (29-18) to a 51-40 lead with 6:08 to play.
The Owls are 5-6 on the season and will be in action once again on Dec. 30 when they play at UTSA (7 p.m.).
