Owls Aim For Two Straight Wins
Following an overtime victory on Friday, the Rice Owls will look to enter the Christmas break with two straight wins with a showdown against Texas Southern set for Monday afternoon. Rice will be looking for their first road win of the season in just three attempts. The Owls lead the all-time series over the Lady Tigers, 9-6, which includes a 61-54 victory at Tudor Fieldhouse in 2013.

hit a turnaround jumper with 3 seconds left in overtime to propel the Owls to a 57-55 overtime victory over McNeese State. In addition to Goodwine's dramatics, senior post Christal Porter

Texas Southern Scouting Report
The Lady Tigers enter play on Monday having lost three of their last four games, including a 68-63 loss at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday. Texas Southern has four players averaging double-figure points, led by junior guard Brianna Sidney (12.0 ppg). Diamononisha Sophus (11.1), Morgan Simmons (10.2) and Alexus Johnson (10.1) all average double-digits as well. The Lady Tigers average just 60 points per game and shoot 39 percent as a team.
Doing It With Defense
Rice currently leads all Conference USA teams in both defense FG percentage (35%) and defense 3pt. FG percentage (20%). The defense three-point field goal percentage is good enough for 10th in the nation. Rice has allowed 60 points or less six times this season.
Porter Among Nation's Best
Owls' senior post Christal Porter
bested her career-high 16-rebound performance in the opener vs. Prairie View with 18 rebounds in a win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Nov. 24. Through seven games Porter is leading all of C-USA in rebounds per game (12.4), 6th in the nation, and is 8th in the country in defensive rebounds per game (8.0). The senior already has six double-figure rebound performances on the year.
Goodwine Leading the Way
Rice sophomore forward Jasmine Goodwine
has become the go-to weapon on the offensive end, averaging a team-best 12.6 points while shooting 40 percent from the field. The Killeen, Texas nativehas twice scored 20 or more points in a game and made her first career game-winner last time out. Goodwine is also fourth in the league in free throw percentage (.853).
