Rice to Participate in Omni Hotels Classic
The Owls will continue their early road-heavy schedule this weekend when they travel to Boulder, Colorado to partake in the Omni Hotels Classic, Nov. 29-30. By weekend’s end the Owls will have played six of their first nine games on the road and five of their last seven away from Tudor Fieldhouse. Rice will first play Samford on Friday at 6 p.m. (CT) followed by either Colorado or South Alabama on Saturday with a time to be determined.  

Briefly On The Owls
• Senior Jessica Kuster notched her Division I nation-leading seventh, double-double of the season on Wednesday with 22 points and 15 rebounds while playing a career-high 45 minutes. The San Antonio, Texas native also leads the nation in total rebounds (105) and is averaging 20.6ppg and 15rpg.

• Rice sophomore Breion Allen came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points in only nine minutes of action on Tuesday by burying 4-of-5 attempts from three-point range, also a career-high. Allen made the game-tying three-pointer in regulation with just six seconds remaining to force overtime.

• This weekend will mark a homecoming for Aurora, Colorado native Adaeze Obinnah. The freshman went to Grandview High School where she averaged 11.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks her senior season.

Rice vs. Samford
The Owls are 1-0 all-time against the Bulldogs, winning the only meeting back 11/26/99, 67-60. Samford has lost three consecutive games and is averaging just 51 points per game while shooting 33 percent from the field. Krista Stricklin is the leading scorer at 9.5ppg.

Rice vs. Colorado
Rice has yet to beat Colorado and will carry an 0-3 all-time record against the Buffaloes shall the two teams meet. The two teams last met on 11/24/07 when Colorado defeated Rice 72-55. The 14th-ranked team in the nation has yet to lose and has five players averaging double-figures in scoring, led by Jen Reese (11.3ppg).

Rice vs. South Alabama
The Owls won the only meeting ever with South Alabama, beating the Jaguars 75-69 back on 11/23/91. USA has lost their first four games to start the season, including a 54-51 loss to Houston Baptist in their most previous game. Meghan Dunn leads the Jaguars with 13.5ppg. 

Omni Hotels Classic: This is the 27th straight year Colorado has hosted an early season women's basketball tournament. For the first 22 years the tournament was known as the Coors Classic, and is in its fifth year of being called the Omni Hotels Classic. 

Rice makes its third Omni Classic appearance. The Owls took second in 1997, falling to Colorado in the championship game, and fourth in 2007.
