On Tuesday morning, Conference USA announced the addition of Rice University women’s basketball’s March 1 home contest against UTEP to the league’s broadcast schedule. The game will air on FSN and will be played at 11 a.m. CT.
Last season, Rice claimed a 62-59 win at UTEP on Feb. 28 in a nationally televised contest on CBS Sports Network against the Miners. It was the team’s second broadcast game of the year, following a Feb. 10 meeting with Houston on FSN.
Rice plays 14 games at Tudor Fieldhouse in 2013-14, beginning with a Nov. 11 contest against Texas Southern.
On Monday, senior forward Jessica Kuster was one of eight league players named to the Conference USA Preseason team. The defending C-USA Defensive Player of the Year ranks second among active players in the league with 1,453 career points. With 976 rebounds, she is likely to become the ninth player in league history to top 1,000 boards early in the upcoming campaign.
The Owls opened preseason practice last week.
